The 50's does not represent a bright part of history of former Czechoslovak Socialistic Republic. After the communistic takeover at February 25, 1948 (called "Victorius February" for next forty years) democracy in the country started to quickly decay.
All power was now in the hands of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (KSČ) and the almighty secret police, called State security (StB).
Although we are trying to depict this time with touch of irony and humor, be afraid that these things - and lots of worse - actually happened then. You may look at the actual documents via web site of The Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes.
You may also find interesting that the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia, the successor of KSČ, is according to latest poll surveys second third most powerful political party .
